The Operations and Information Management (OPIM) Department is looking for students interested in emerging technology to work as a lab specialist in the School of Business’s Gladstein Lab. These new lab monitors must maintain the lab schedule by processing requests and arranging meetings, assisting students with lab projects, and maintaining the appearance and functionality of lab equipment. An interest in teaching visitors about the technologies the department has to offer is beneficial to candidates as they will need to give presentations to students, faculty, staff, and the general public regarding the lab and the department’s other initiatives. Experience with programming, virtual reality, micro controllers, and data analytics is preferred but not required.

Liberty Bank Internship Opportunity

Liberty Bank is looking for summer interns from the University of Connecticut to work in Risk Management as the Information  Security Analyst Intern. Risk management is necessary for maintaining a strong information security program and this internship will offer hands on experience with challenging assignments guided by an onsite peer/mentor. The assignments include tasks involving security monitoring such as vulnerability review and analysis, security awareness testing and training, risk assessment and analysis, implementation and management of a cybersecurity framework, and information security program implementation and monitoring.

In order to apply, the candidate should have an intermediate to advanced level of technical knowledge and a basic understanding of information security concepts. Liberty Bank would prefer candidates who are rising juniors or seniors residing in Connecticut, as the internship is located in Middletown, CT, but is not required.

UBS Realty Investors – Summer Research Associate

UBS Realty Investors is looking for an organized student with a strong ability to professionally communicate in order to fill the position of Research & Strategy Summer Analyst. This intern will work closely with the Research & Strategy team based in Hartford, CT. Some projects this intern would work on are visual analytics including modeling using statistical programs (i.e., R-Project) and data visualization (i.e., Tableau).

In order to apply candidates must be enrolled in either a bachelor’s or graduate degree program with an expected graduation date after August 2018. Candidates must have basic knowledge of data analytics and visualization, and proficient experience with Microsoft-based products, particularly Word and Excel. Proficiency in Tableau and R-Project would be highly valued, but not required, as well as  an understanding of pivot tables, vlookups, and keyboard shortcuts. 5th Annual UConn BBQ with Cigna

Monday October 16th Cigna will be hosting their 5th annual BBQ Recruiting event. The event is scheduled to take place from 2-6pm on Fairfield Way, with a rain date of Wednesday, October 18th.

Cigna will be recruiting for their TECDP program, a rotational program where interns and full-time employees are able to try different roles within IT, network with peers and executive leaders, and have flexible time to dedicate to different TECDP committees. CS, CSE, MIS, and DMD majors, as well as anyone interested in a career in technology, are all encouraged to attend the event and apply for this opportunity with Cigna.

Cigna TECDP employees are also looking for volunteers to collaborate with for a philanthropy event with Foundation for Hospital Art. Volunteers will help paint murals that will be donated to hospitals. Artistic talent is not necessary in order to participate as these murals are similar to a large coloring books!
